On gamespot, they have an article about the FF7 movie Advent Children. It made me remember the original game. Spoiler ahead!!

I can not think of a braver decision in a videogame than to kill off one of the main characters. Not a secondary characters , but one of the main four characters of the game! People can get really attached to their RPG characters, and to kill one off? Incredible. I think that's one thing Square doesn't get enough credit for - they consistently make incredibly brave decisions with their games in an effort to be stay ahead. Does anyone remember how contraversial Square's decision to have the characters speak in FFX was? Now every game does it. They were the first company to make an RPG with real characters (FFIV/FFII), and one of the first Japanese companies to experiment with MMORPG's (FFXI).

What an ending FFVII had, too. Maybe I'll try playing it again.
