You know one thing I like about Halifax? The pedestrian crossings. You get to a crossing, press a button, and immediately (immediately!) a thing starts buzzing and lights start flashing, and you can cross the road, even on the busiest of streets. Car drivers don't even seem to mind waiting as you cross. What's better, these crossings are absolutely everywhere. Every major street has them, at well-spaced intervals, unless there are sufficient street lights in the way. Good stuff.

You know something I don't like about Halifax? Actually, it's about their library system: they classify all graphics novels they have as "young adult". So hidden amongst all the teen people magazines and babysitter club books are Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth, the Sandman series, Palestine, Louis Riel....I appreciate that they have all these comics, but they're really not young adult. Except for Ulysses, Jimmy Corrigan was the best thing I've read all year. Oh well.
