So I know I haven't updated in a while, and I had written a big long post this afternoon, at which my school computer crashed. Teaches me for writing blog stuff at school. Here's was the gist: had a good time Wed. afternoon at the library, then the Novia Scotia Art Gallery, then at a (real) Szechuan restaurant. Hoorah.

On Sat. bought Katamari Damachi, with hilarious consequences. Seriously, all the reviews (which, after reading, made me buy the game) all blab on about orginality, and cool music, and wonderful sense of scale, but the real heart of the game is the last two minutes of each level. If you don't know the idea of the game, here it is: you start with a small sticky ball, and roll it around a 3d level (a house, a town, a continent, etc.) picking up various and sundry objects. You have a time limit to get to a certain radius. The point is, at the beginning, almost everything is bigger than you, which means you have to run from it. Kid with a baseball bat? Run! Rat with a tray of cookies on it's back? Run! A bear with a rocket strapped to it's back? Run. (I'm not making these things up, by the way: it's a very Japanese game, and hence very odd). But by the end of each level, these former antagonists are simply puny beings, ready for you to roll up. I can hardly control the ball by the end because I am either laughing or yelling at things ("Stupid school girl!! Take that, elephant!! Die football stadium, die!!)

Sadly, it is now Monday, and I have already finished the game. Of course, I can still do far better in each level, which means more yelling and whatnot, but it's sad that it's done so quick. The last level was very satisfying though: by the end of it, you are rolling up whole islands. Good stuff.
