So it looks as though Bush has won. I suppose all the news places are being cautious about this, but it seems unlikely that the absentee votes in Ohio will be enough to change things.

I think that about a month ago I would be more upset about this, but now I'm just sort of resigned to the fact. Why? Not living in America, there is only one issue that I feel affects me: the idea of the US using pre-emptive strikes. It seems to me that if there is one single action which a country can take to de-stabilize a general state of peace in the world, it is to attack another country without first being attacked. As soon as one country does it, anyone else can feel they have a right to do it as well. The idea of pre-emptively striking another country is the worst thing I can think of.

So, the issue seemed clear to me: Bush had done it, and Kerry (I thought) wouldn't. But then I read that Kerry supports pre-emptive military action (if supported by intelligence). So, given that the intelligence communities believed Iraq posed a nuclear or biological threat, one can safely assume that Kerry, were he to have been in the same situation, would have pre-emptively struck as well.

So it doesn't really matter. Bloody America.
