Busy week. Monday and Thursday had the 3rd and 4th power-outage-causing storms of this winter. I moved from a city which is brutal in summer to a city which is brutal in winter :) The streets, trees and houses sure did look pretty today though, all snow-covered and glistening.
I'm taking a game theory course this term. Combinatorial game theory is so new it's not on the cutting edge, it's the friggin' bleeding edge. Everything is new new new. It's really quite interesting to be learning a subject which is so young. I feel like so many things could be better done, but's it's hard to know what is right and what isn't. When you're taking a subject which has been developed for several hundred years, everything flows naturally. Right now, combinatorial game theory is so new nothing quite feels right, and I know there are better ways to do things, it's just hard to see them.
Next Friday the math society is having a wine and cheese! Hooray!
