Four months of doing the learning centre (people drop in with math questions), and I finally had my first real annoying experience with someone. First of all, this guy came to see my yesterday. Not while I was in the learning centre mind you, but rather while I was sitting in my office. He appeared at my door and wanted to know if he could ask me a question about math. Fine, whatever. He wanted to know the difference between a function and a relation. I told him, he didn't like the answer. I reformulated it, he seemed happy with that, said he understood, all good. Ten seconds later, I hear him next door asking the next person the same question. Whatever.

So anyways, he comes in to the learning centre at about 3:00 today. Very flustered, doesn't understand what his prof is doing, etc, etc. So I try to help him with his first question, he gets to an answer, which he doesn't like. It's a perfectly valid answer, he just doesn't like how it turned out. He then proceeds to ask me about the next three questions on his assignment. His general attitude was, if I couldn't help him in a minute or less, I was stupid and was wasting his time. By the way, I looked at his assignment sheet, and turns out his assignment is due tomorrow. Good job.

I don't mind people not knowing things, I don't mind random questions, I don't even really mind people asking questions at the last minute. What really annoyed me was just the attitude of this guy. I guess it does say something about Dal that no one else I've talked to all this time has had a bad attitude when coming for help.
