Rather surreal event this morning. I'm just about to start crossing at a light when I voice booms "Hello!" from over my right shoulder. Since the voice wasn't directed in my direction, more like straight ahead, I assumed the person was talking on a cellphone or to someone else. He then passes me, and as he does so, I take a look at him. No cellphone, no other people in sight. Must have been speaking to me, but he certainly isn't looking at me now, nor giving any indication that he just attempted to greet me. A few seconds later he exclaims "What a nice morning, isn't it?", again, projecting his voice forward rather than towards me, and not looking at me. Seeing as how there was no one there, I figured he must have been talking to me, and respond "Uh, yeah". The thing is, it really wasn't: it was a horribly cold and windy morning. Before I can look at him again, he's gone off in a different direction, walking extremely fast. I then realise I recognized the person: it was the mayor of Halifax. The whole thing was like a dream.
On an entirely unrelated note, I really miss M.
