Ok, so kayaking was friggin' awesome. It feels so much more natural than canoing. The best part of it all, though, was the absolutely untouched nature of the area we were kayaking in. I mean, you go to someone's cottage or Algonquin, and there's always some signs of civilization. Here, less than 40 minutes from Halifax, just down the coast? After 10 minutes of paddling, absolutely nothing. An Inukshuk, that's it. Lots of creatures though. We were paddling through dozens of jellyfish, saw herring jumping, and lots of blue herons and various other birds. Amazing.

I should really read your blog before I post on M's.
I did a bit of kayaking (racing on flatwater) in highschool. It seemed harder than canoeing, but maybe it's just what I'm used to. It must be nice to be able to get to such a natural area. I went to my cabin for the long weekend and a few extra days. It's fairly remote, we only saw about 5 boats on the lake the whole time. The only problem is that it takes about 10 hours to get there.

Kayaking! That is so cool! I went on a four day canoe trip this weekend, but it was far too crowded for me. I mean, I'm not a hermit or anything, but when both the racoons and the deer are clearly used to humans, it's time to move on.
Canoeing was still fun though. I'm glad you and Meghan got some time in the fabulous outdoors.
