The start of school has been insanely busy. Included among the activities has been my first tutorial session. I sort of did one in the last year of undergrad, but it was with a couple of other people, so it didn't quite count. I thought this one went pretty well, except for when I completely and totally fucking up the last question. A minor detail, that :)
It has been so exciting to consider what my next question to research will be. Right now, I'm looking at the definition of a measurable space. There are a couple of interesting things about it. For one, it's hard to see why countable is so heavily focused on. It all stems from the definition, which requires that the sets in a measurable space be only closed under countable unions, not arbitrary ones. Any of you mathematicians out there know a good reason why countable is required, other than for convenience? The other point is trying to get around using complements, but that's a whole other story.
As for the weekend, Peggy's Cove was beautiful. I mean, just look at this picture of the ocean. It doesn't get any better than that. I also had a lobster roll for the first time, which was quite tasty.
In addition, we went to this fruit winery on Sunday. Nice place, got to pick some blueberries and try out a vast array of fruit wines. If you ever see one, and like cider, give 'em a try. Quite different than normal grape wines.
