A propos* of nothing, in my half-awake state this morning I came up with the something which seemed like a revelation at the time, but of course is now just kind of pointless. Everyone knows the Dante-esque versions of heaven and hell - in heaven, you pretty much get constant fun and pleasurable activities, in hell constant torment. For examples, see pretty much any popular culture reference to either. The question with this generally is, wouldn't I eventually get bored with all the pleasurable activities in heaven, or used to all the torments in hell, thereby lessening my infinite enjoyment of heaven or my infinite torment in hell?
What I realized is that supposing all this actually existed (which I highly doubt) the solution is simple: just wipe everyone's memories every few hours. That way, the pleasures are constantly new and fun, and the torments constantly excruciating.
I've always wondered whether the fact that I'm a generally happy and content person is largely caused by my terrible, terrible memory. Everything seems new and interesting to me because I don't remember I did it all yesterday! :)
* Anyone know how to do accents in html? 'Cause I don't.

You're right -- in some ways, a bad memory is a blessing. You get to tell funny stories over again, not remember little unkindnesses perpetuated on you by others, and food is always new and exciting.
Not sure about the heaven/hell theory, but it's an interesting thought.
