I'm somewhat shocked: I (a Canadian student) am getting funding from the NSF (America's equivalent of NSERC) to go to a conference in Chicago for a week. Why? I do not know. They said "ask for funding", I did, they're going to give it to me: accomodation and full air fare.

I tell you, graduate students out there, get on board the conference gravy train. It is where it's at.

In all serious-ness, though, I'm really excited about this. It's a memorical conference for the late father of category theory, Saunders Mac Lane, and pretty much anyone I've ever heard of in category theory is going there. Maybe I'll actually get up the nerve to talk to some of them, unlike the conference in Ottawa....
