So last week, while getting out about my 30th book from the university library, I asked the librarian "so how many books are we allowed to have out at once?" Her response was awesome: "As many as you want. In fact, if people brought back all the books they had out, we wouldn't have room on our shelves." Somehow that just boggles my mind. The library, as it is, can't contain all its books, and so is relying on the fact that people have dozens of library books sitting on their shelves each term.

Some sad news today: our other clownfish, Big One, died today. M noticed he was acting funny this morning, but it didn't seem too bad, but when we got in this afternoon, he was dead. I guess we're not good fish people :(
Comments:
that's the way a library should be -- not some sort of prison-house for books, but a free-form collection of literature which circulates through the populace. Awesome.

Have fun at the Conference in Chicago! It's funny how much money people will give to grad students if they only ask...
Well done!
