Too Much Travelling
I'm really getting sick of being in a different part of the continent every few days. After coming from Halifax last week, I've been in Ohio the past few days visiting my grandfather and seeing various other relatives. In a couple days in Ottawa, and a week or so after that I'll be in Portugal. I don't know how business people who travel all the time do it.
On the plus side, I have managed to see a few people I haven't seen in a while. It was great to spend an afternoon hanging out with Daniel downtown, eating dumplings (yum) and drinking beer. It was also nice to see some of my west-coast relatives in Ohio last week - they always send us gifts at Christmas, but we never get to see them! It is nice to catch up with people.
As another plus, all this traveling has really made me appreciate my purchase of the DS. I just bought it to play games I had read about and wanted to play, but, naturally, being a portable system, it's ideal for car, bus or airplane travel. I'm quite enjoying Etrian Odyssey. Most of the reviews and whatnot claim it to be like the old Wizardry games - having never played them, I cannot comment on that; what I do know is that it's quite entertaining as an rpg. Almost no story to speak of, but the battles are actually interesting - you have to think (sometimes) which is a rarity nowadays for the genre. Also, the "using the stylus to make your own map" is a fun diversion. Don't bother reading the mainstream reviews - most of them say they like the game then give it a mediocre score. Further reading about the game experience can be found in this thread.

Comments:
Here's hoping you aren't so tired of travelling that you don't appreciate Portugal! And it's good to know that your inner nerd (plus your DS) is keeping you sane during this busy period... ;)
